Ysemerline goes to the US Naval Ship Comfort; Another medical team arrives!

We had to leave Ysemerline with her father , Innocent Rene', so they could be transported to the US Navy ship, Comfort.  She will be evaluated there and it will be decided where she should get medical attention.  There are several options and they will determine what should be done.

Dr. Julia Redcay goes along with Ysemerline to take her to the Army Base where she will be lifted by helicopter to the US Navy ship Comfort.

Drs. Myron and Doreen Miller, Pamela Shirk, Faith Layton, and Carol Hershey came by the way of the Dominican Republic.  They had a most interesting day today. There were many at the clinc here at the compound and they went mobile in the afternoon.  They were crowded by many who needed medical attention.

Ysemerline Rene' to be transferred to ship!

Dr. Brad Moyer's favorite Haitian patient, Ysemerline Rene', the 11 year old girl with multiple injuries from the earthquake in Haiti is to be transferred to the US Naval Ship "Comfort" today, Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 AM.  She has multiple fractures (closed but palpable) of the humerus, and femur, and a large facial laceration involving her left orbit and compromising her site, ability to close the eye.

Dr. Julia Redcay has been doing a wonderful job of helping to facilitate.  This is a wonderful answer to prayer!  Ysemerline will be evaluated for a possible transfer to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA where they have agreed to treat her "free of charge."  PTL.

TB Alert

This Haitian lady has now been diagnosed with TB.  You may remember that we saw such a remarkable recovery from dehydration with her a few weeks ago.  The problem is she is one of the homeless residing on our property.  Please pray that we can find an acceptable way to get her isolated so her infectious disease does not spread.

Back Home in Pa but still Blogging for Haiti!

Sunrise in Carrefour, Haiti on the morning I left.  Monday, Feb. 1, 2010.

Dr. Rick meets Dr. Mark.  Rick has been reading Mark's articles in an ER Physician's periodical and now they meet!  Who would have guessed that it would be in Haiti, while waiting for a military evacuation ride out of the country?

Hannah & Vanessa -- friends forever!

The long wait for a military evacuation flight was very tiring!  Hannah finds a suitcase makes a great bed -- for a little while.

Preparing to board the huge C-17 for our ride to the USA!  Prior to our boarding they offloaded two flat-bed tractor trailer trucks.

Dr. Rick really enjoys the unique ride home.

Perhaps a few hundred of us with USA Passports filled the huge plane!

Strapped down, trying to get some rest!

Pastor Walter sleeps over his suitcase while sitting on the noisy tarmac of the International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti

Our seat wasn't comfortable for very long!

The big bird that carried us back to the USA!

Checking out a Beef Ravioli and all the contents of my military style meal.

Pastor Walter lays on the floor of the Orlando Airport and catches about a 2 hr. nap before our next flight.

A Change of Staff

Today a few of us will leave Haiti and some more will come in.  Deb Solley, one of our nurses who is staying, is sick and on IV.  Please pray for her.  I will be adding more updates to the blog when I get to the States, and will add more pics of ongoing labors here as they are available to me.  We are close to getting a flight for the girl we are wanting to get treatment at Geisinger.  Thanks, Alan
