Lunch at Ft. Lauderdale, FL Airport. Mechanical maintenance of our airport made us late so we missed our flight to Haiti. We were given food vouchers and a free night at Marriot Hotel.

Having arrived at Port-Au-Prince Airport we begin to load the truck.

There is still many who need water. The city doesn't provide water everyday, sometimes not even for 4 to 5 days. More and more people come to get water at our mission compound. We still supply thousands of gallons of water a day!

We are off to a mobile clinic at Leogane. Seven of the nine team members are in the back of the truck.

This man is a neighbor at our compound in Leogane. He was injured when his house fell on him at the time of the earthquake. He had a head injury and he could not walk. We went to his home to take care of him. There is a picture of Vanessa Thompson dressing his wounds in the January blog. The article was labeled (Vanessa treats a head wound). The man came to visit us and to thank us for the help that he received. We were so happy to see him doing so well.

Dr. Todd Taylor and Dr. John Gehman are looking at an object that was retrieved from a little girl's nose. The mother said she couldn't breathe because there was an object up her nose. Dr. Taylor began pulling the object out and it was several inches long and looked like an earthworm. It is curled up as he is holding it with tweezers.

Even the graves were opened in the city of Petionville during the earthquake. The concrete was shattered and the caskets were outside the tombs.

A new team arrived today by bus. This team will finish up the month of February. They too had a long trip. They were at the bus station waiting on another member of the team. He came on the following bus with the remainder of the luggage.

We arrived early for the bus. They wanted to be sure to get the first bus back to the Dominican Republic. Nice smiles for 5 a.m.

This crippled lady crawled up to the door of the mobile clinic. She made her way to one of the doctors. Dr. David received her openly. She crawls everywhere on the ground. She was so happy for the attention.

There is a high demand for mobile clinics. The team left after eating the noon meal for another wild adventure. The road reminded one of a motor-cross race track and we went to a neighborhood of less fortunate people. There were no complaints for the team was eager to help these needy people.

A New Team At Work in Haiti!

This is a tough case for the doctors. The baby was born the day of the earthquake. She was a twin. The other baby died and she is very ill and very tiny. Let's pray that they can save this little one.

The team was called out of the clinic into the yard where a lady had fallen unconscious. They were able to revive the lady and then moved her inside for observation.

Wendy has had a very busy 1st day of clinic. There were many lined up to see the doctors today. It was one of the busiest days that we have had.

Robbie is hard a work! There are many patients to be seen. It seems there are more here now than when we started. The word must be out that they will be attended.

Tamara has an advantage. She is able to understand the language and can communicate with the patients without an interpreter. She loves her work and the people.

A Valentine's Day Baby & An Exchange Of Teams!

Can you imagine what is going on in his mind? What is he contemplating? This must be serious but we know that he can handle it.

The team was distracted this morning by a mother in labor. Breakfast was ready but it would have to wait. Church was in session and there were a few medical workers that would be absent from the services. Our little buddy was born this Valentines Day morning. Baby boy and mother are doing fine. This was a special moment for the medical team. All of them took the opportunity to hold this precious little fellow in their arms.

Here are two happy sweethearts. They were there to help deliver this bouncing baby boy.

The team went to the bus station early to get a bus to the Dominican Republic. From there they got a flight home. They were a very gifted group and God used them to help those in need this past week. While going to the airport our truck was clipped by an Army vehicle. A Humvee came too close and struck the mirror. Don was surprised and thought there would be greater damage. The mirror flew about 50 feet and hit the road. He was able to salvage the plastic part, and fortunately the larger mirror landed in a grassy area.

A new team arrived this afternoon. They are getting their passports stamped in immigrations.

Right after having dinner the team wanted to see the clinic. They brought some supplies and began immediately restocking the pharmacy.

This team left from the bus station this morning. The bus goes from Port-au-Prince to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. They will then get a flight to Philadelphia, PA.

An elderly woman was left at our doorstep a few weeks ago. She is in the last stages of TB. Being a great health risk to others we had to move her to an isolated area of the yard. Rev. Jonas Hight and a Haitian man helped in the undesirable task.

We had to leave Ysemerline with her father , Innocent Rene', so they could be transported to the US Navy ship, Comfort. She will be evaluated there and it will be decided where she should get medical attention. There are several options and they will determine what should be done.

There were many at the clinc here at the compound and they went mobile in the afternoon. They were crowded by many who needed medical attention.

Ysemerline Rene' to be transferred to ship!

Dr. Brad Moyer's favorite Haitian patient, Ysemerline Rene', the 11 year old girl with multiple injuries from the earthquake in Haiti is to be transferred to the US Naval Ship "Comfort" today, Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 AM. She has multiple fractures (closed but palpable) of the humerus, and femur, and a large facial laceration involving her left orbit and compromising her site, ability to close the eye.

Dr. Julia Redcay has been doing a wonderful job of helping to facilitate. This is a wonderful answer to prayer! Ysemerline will be evaluated for a possible transfer to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA where they have agreed to treat her "free of charge." PTL.

The long wait for a military evacuation flight was very tiring! Hannah finds a suitcase makes a great bed -- for a little while.

Josette is a 15 year old who has multiple fractures of her pelvis. She laid by a dusty road since the earthquake. We have stopped by frequently treating a wound on her back and getting her the nourishment she has desperately needed. Now she lies in a Red Cross Hospital which recently set up almost right across the road from us. She is not a candidate for surgery, but she will have a long painful recovery.

Dr. Rick Lapp converses with two doctors from the Red Cross Hospital. We had taken three patients there this evening who need surgery but we were turned away for lack of beds. Perhaps tomorrow they will call saying they can take the patients.

Mobley is at the Airport to receive the next medical team coming in. The pastor who was to take us to a mobile clinic today never showed up. But God knew all about it.

This dear little three month old boy was brought to our mobile clinic critically ill. Pneumonia led to respiratory distress, which led to cardiac arrest. Lots of other problems presented themselves. We knew we needed to get him down to our main clinic, but had no time before he died. If we had just known one day sooner, no doubt we could have saved his life. The poor mother went hysterical and many tears were shed! Thanks for your prayerful support.

An armored truck pulls near to the bank next door to our property.

A man was just caught stealing this morning right next to our property. The center circle shows a man with his hand tied behind his back and a police officer on either side. The people were beating him up until the cops arrived. As they got him to his feet one Haitian reached out and slapped him. Quite a crowd was gathered and had become very loud and angry. When the ruckus began I thought I heard two gunshots, but no one seemed to be injured except the thief.

Dr. Brad, A haitian, and a marine guarding our clinic door. We were so glad for the marines' help. The people were really adamant to get medical care. We had three patients we shipped on to a hospital for further care.

Our property at Leogane has sustained extensive damage. The whole back wall of the church has collapsed and nearly all of the concrete border wall is destroyed. Our artesian well is still producing -- Praise The Lord!

This lady is a real miracle. She came to us looking like the pic below. She was pulled from the rubble apparently Wednesday and must have been left to die. We gave her an IV and other treatment. Hannah gave her a blouse because she was naked. We came back hours later after being up on the mountain at a church clinic, and here is what we found. A haitian nurse that we left in charge of her was in the process of giving her a bath. We gave her some things to eat, and soon she was smiling again and looking much stronger.
We believe this lady was reported on by CNN after being pulled from the rubble on Wednesday. We are so glad she was brought on a liter to our clinic!!!

This sight has brought many tears to our eyes throughout this day. She is to be flown to the Comfort Ship Hospital tomorrow.

We have seen unbelievable cases over and over again. These people are not getting much care, if any, and God keeps throwing them into our path. Many thanks to everyone who is helping in some way to make this life-saving mission possible!!! Tonight we came home to many boxes inside our clinic which were donated by a Rotary Club. It was like Christmas in Haiti!

A badly burned baby when a stove exploded during the earthquake. This mother's husband and another child was killed. She has two more, one of whom had a burn on her leg. We have transferred the baby to a special hospital, hoping for a flight to the Comfort Hospital Ship tomorrow. Please pray for this dear mother and her three living children. Of course, she is also homeless. Can you imagine her grief and confusion?

We stopped at this hospital first but they wanted us to take the burned baby on to another hospital.

We saw 120 patients today with 2 doctors and 1 nurse. We had lots of other help through the day and were able to feed them snacks with goodies given to us by our US Airways flight crew on our way down. We also made rehydration drinks with their sugar packets for several dehydrated children, saving their lives!! Stay tuned for more pictures. Internet is really slow down here.
